Doktu Rhute Muuzic
Guest Bartender Series
MVBS.org and Crawford Brew Works have partnered for a Brews ’n’ Blues Concert Series and Guest Bartender Series to raise money for the Blues education outreach program, Blues in the Schools. Guest Bartenders: John Resch and Chris Ryan of Doggin’ Out. Roy Hytower, now known as DoktuRhuteMuuzic, is a native of Coffeeville, AL. He first made a name for himself in the Chicago blues scene during the 1960s, replacing Mighty Joe Young in Otis Rush’s band. Rhute reflects, “…my father, he had one of his favorite songs he’d like to play, ‘Going Back to Tennessee,’ and, I remember, he would sing, ‘Go–ing back, tooooo Tennessee…,’ and he would hit that melody line… and something would just, grab me, and I knew then I was going to be a guitar player.” Give his song “I’m in Your Corner” a listen and see what he is all about!
