The MVBS organization has been successful in its mission to preserve, educate, and celebrate the blues through initiatives such as the Blues in the Schools program, which has connected with over 3,000 students and music educators in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois through presentations by professional touring blues musicians and educators. Wow, my jaw dropped…I loved every second of it, just how they sounded together, just melding perfectly, nothing really feeling out of place. Honestly, being able to solo with music is something that I have always wanted to do (and make it sound good) and just to see them do it so well and together gives me goosebumps. MVBS, a non-profit organization, hosted successful events in 2022, including the MVBS Blues Festival and the first annual Summer concerts Series, which showcased live blues music as an integral part of local culture and attracted thousands of attendees. These events were made possible with financial support from various sources, and the organization encourages individuals to contribute to its mission through year-end giving and becoming a sustaining member. The Catfish Jazz Society and the Mississippi Valley Blues Society hosted a joint music event featuring Adrianna Marie and her Groove Cutters at the Viking Club in Moline, IL on November 6th and 13th, showcasing a blend of big band jazz swing and blues influences. The Mississippi Valley Blues Society and Crawford Brew Works partnered to raise money in providing Blues education outreach for area music educators and students.
Earlier this year, the Mississippi Valley Blues Society (MVBS) partnered with the Cities of Davenport, Moline and Rock Island to bring free live Blues music to each of the Cities respective outdoor event stages: Quinlan Court, Davenport, Bass St. Landing, Moline, and Schwiebert Park, Rock Island. The MVBS Blues series kicked off May 26th at Bass St Landing in Moline and finished September 1st at Quinlan Court, Davenport.
